'SPRING IN JAPAN' 7th to 24th April 2018
Perfect if you have never been to Japan before, want to get off the beaten track and see the real Japan, or if you are travelling with a non-gardener. It is all so interesting.
Our aim is to catch the cherry blossom in the spectacular Alpine regions, then come down to the coast of the sea of Japan, and then further south, to catch the gardens in a blaze of colour with spring bulbs, flowers and Azaleas.
We make a base in each area and do day trips out. It is a much less touristed area of Japan, scenically very beautiful and unspoilt, and best of all the cherry blossom is reputed to be the best of anywhere in Japan. We explore scenic beauty, culture, history, art, and all that makes Japan so unique. Plus the most beautiful gardens in their spring colour glory.

So good - we have to do it again.
Our 'Road Less Travelled Across the Pyrenees' holiday in 2016 had rave reviews from our guests. It was so good, all declare it has to go again. So we will be going again in 2018!
To the beautiful and fascinating Basque regions of both France & Spain, and up over the Pyrenees Mountains.
We begin by exploring the exciting French city of Bordeaux. Before a scenic journey along the border lands of France and Spain. We discover the food, culture & history of the fiercely independent people who live in this picturesque area. Sea-faring and traditional agricultural practises still continue, and the Basque cuisine reflects this, with delicious and distinctive dishes.
We explore some of the prettiest villages on both sides of the border, as well as in the spectacular Pyrenees mountains, where Basque culinary traditions and culture still flourish. The French and Spanish Basque country is indeed a culinary and scenic paradise.

We make a base first on the royal Isle of Wight, where the balmy climate produces flower filled streets and gardens. The island has pretty landscape and a wealth of interesting sights to see, as well as gardens filled with colour.
Our second island is the unique, independent, historic, and not often visited Isle of Man – A charming and spectacular island stay with much to interest all.
We visit the fascinating area of the Norfolk Broads, a watery land of lakes, quiet islands, secluded villages, long history and glorious private homes and gardens. A very pleasant stay pottering around in boats.
Finally an island like no other – Iceland. Here the landscape is on a dramatically grand scale, and the flowers tiny but exquisite. Iceland has friendly people with a unique culture, and is absolutely fascinating to explore. A holiday packed with interest, away from the crowds, and not to be missed.

Japan in Autumn is a wonderland of colour. Japan's gardens are beautiful in their Autumn splendour.
The holiday is "Japan in a nutshell" - we experience the finest Japanese culture, history, shopping, crafts, scenery and food. The holiday is perfect for gardeners and non-gardeners to enjoy Japan together. First we stay in scenically spectacular Nikko National Park to experience Japan's wonders of nature. Then on to see a very different Japan, the bustling excitement, shopping and entertainment of Tokyo. We also have several multiple night stays to take in the "Must See" sights of Mt. Fuji; the mountain forests in autumn colour; beautiful coasts and islands of the Inland Sea; and absorb an ancient culture in several historic towns. We also have an extended stay in Kyoto, ancient capital and home to some of Japan's most beautiful gardens, traditional arts, cultural activities and authentic cuisine.
